Need Help? Try These Quick Juicing Tips!

You don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy the invigorating burst of energy that comes from fresh vegetable juice. Easy hints can guide you to produce the delectable sweet nectar that can be extracted from all fruits. If you're new to juicing and need help, try these quick juicing tips to get the most out of your juicer!

1.The best advice is to choose your appliance based on the type of produce you are juicing. For example, buy a citrus juicer for citrus fruits, a wheatgrass press for wheat grass or a multi purpose juice extractor for juicing a variety of fruit and vegetables. A great tip is to leave your appliance on the kitchen bench permanently - if you see it, you'll use it.

2. Help yourself by using one cutting board only for fruits and vegetables. It doesn't matter if it's plastic, wood or marble as long as you wash the board thoroughly after use.

3. For a healthy nutritious juice, my advice is to use fresh produce, which is thoroughly cleaned before juicing. Organic fruit and vegetables are simply the best but they're not always available or affordable. Overripe fruits and vegetables are an example of produce that isn't fresh and should not be juiced.

4. Quick hints for fast juicing: cut off toxic leaves like carrot and rhubarb tops; peel fruit and vegetables; remove pits and seeds; and chop larger pieces to size for a quicker result. A good tip for leafy greens is to mould them into compact balls, which makes it easier to feed into the feed chute. Big hint - beetroot and carrot stains everything including your juicer!

5. Simple techniques can produce the maximum yield from your extractor: stop the juicer regularly if you are juicing large quantities of produce; empty the pulp bin as it fills and clean the strainer or you'll get less juice and more pulp.

6. A one-pound sample of raw produce yields 8 ounces of fresh juice. If drinking fresh vegetable juice is new to you then simply try a small sample to start - only 8 ounces a day.

7. As a general guide start with sweet fruits and vegetables you enjoy such as mango and carrot. Then graduate to a variety of different produce before slowly introducing the more powerful leafy greens.

8. A quick tip to prolong the life of your appliance - don't use soft fruits like bananas or avocados because they will damage your machine. They make superb smoothies but are best mixed with fresh juices in a blender.

9. My advice to you: drink it immediately. Juice is at its freshest and healthiest straight after extraction. The whole point of juicing is to drink a concentrated juice high in vitamins and minerals. So don't store it - drink it!
