Fruit Juice Diet

A Fruit Juice Diet offers a number of tasty juice combinations. Fruit juices agitate toxins and acids in the body, which stimulates the elimination process. Fruit juice diets are not a replacement but a complement to a healthy balanced diet. A vital fuel, fresh fruit juice uses no digestive energy, allowing the body to focus on healing and regeneration.

A recent study suggests that drinking fruit and vegetable juice may significantly cut the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers found the risk was 76% lower for those who drank fresh juice more than three times a week, compared with those who drank it less than once a week. Fresh fruit juice accelerates cleansing and also nourishes the body with a rich supply of vitamins and minerals.

Fruit juice is high in sugar, which is stored as excess fat in the body. So it's a good idea not to drink too much fruit juice. Citrus fruit juice and tomatoes are not recommended as part of a fruit juice diet as they are considered too acidic. Too much acidic juice can cause stomach cramps.

Fruit juice diets are ideal as mini-fasts lasting from 24 hours to 2 days. It takes at least 15 hours for the body to start to detoxify on a fresh juice diet.

Fruit juices are immediately absorbed in the body and provide a quick natural burst of energy. Three to four 8oz glasses of fresh fruit juice each day is adequate.

Always consult your personal physician regarding health related issues and fruit juice as part of your diet. Medications may not be as effective if you consume large amounts of fresh fruit juice. Grapefruit juice should not be consumed if you are taking medication.

Temporary side effects resulting from a fruit juice diet can include: headache, tiredness, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea and weight loss. These reactions are a result of the cleansing process and release of toxins in the blood.

The following fruits are ideal to use in your fruit juice diet: apple, grape, blueberry, cranberry, cantaloupe, cherry, lemon, and pineapple.
