Lemon Juice Diet
Dieting with The Lemon Juice Diet or Master Cleanse is the simplest of fruit juice diets. Lemon juice not only assists weight loss but also helps to reduce cravings for sugars and junk foods. Weight loss occurs as the body releases water and toxins. The original purpose of a diet using lemon juice is to rest and cleanse all levels of the digestive tract.
Dieting with lemon juice is a 5 to 10 day fruit juice cleanse to be carried out only under the supervision of your medical practitioner. For weight loss, most will benefit from a once or twice years cleanse using the lemon juice diet. However, such rapid weight loss is not healthy. Adverse effects common to all juice diets will occur: dizziness, headache, and nausea. Constant sipping of drinks containing syrup and large amounts of lemon juice is likely to erode dental enamel.
It is a strict regime where normal meals are replaced with a liquid diet. The Lemon Juice Diet consists of fresh lemon juice, organic tree syrup, spring water and a pinch of cayenne pepper. The syrup is a blend of maple and palm tree syrups, high in natural plant sugars, which provides energy and satisfies hunger pains. Most store bought maple syrup is too high in added sugars and is not suitable for the lemon juice diet. Fresh lemon juice helps to dissolve mucus and waste. The cayenne pepper stimulates heat in the body, which speeds cleansing, and elimination.
Make 2 liters of lemon drink to last during the day. 2 liters consists of 140 ml fresh lemon juice (from 4 lemons); 140 ml Madal BAL Tree Syrup; and spring water. Drink constantly throughout the day, warm or cool and add a dash of cayenne pepper before sipping.
In addition, complement the lemon juice diet by drinking water and mint or ginger tea.
When you have completed the diet drink only fruit juices on the first day. On the second day, consume fruit juices during the day and vegetable soup in the evening. On the third day after the cleanse start eating healthy solid foods.
As this diet lacks a variety of nutrients, it will not lead to long-term weight loss and could be harmful to your health. Frequent starvation using one fruit juice diets such as lemons is not the secret to weight loss.
An alternative is to drink heavily diluted lemon juice (30mls per liter of hot water) before each meal. Lemon juice breaks down fat in foods and moves this waste faster through the digestive tract. Fruit and vegetable juice diets once a year may have some health benefits if combined with healthy eating habits.
