Vegetable Juice Diet
A Vegetable Juice Diet is a wonderful way to enhance a healthy balanced diet due to their high vitamin, mineral and antioxidant content. You don't have to be a vegetarian or dieting for weight loss to enjoy organic juice. A juice diet or juice fasting is similar to detoxifying the body.
Organic juices accelerate cleansing, as the digestive system doesn't have to process fiber. Vegetable Juices carry away toxins and excess fatty tissue whilst regenerating the body. A diet high in vegetable juice will boost your immune system; and increase your metabolism and energy. Inevitable weight loss will occur. Maintaining the loss can be achieved through a healthy balanced diet including fresh juice and regular exercise.
Water consumption should continue with a vegetable juice diet, as water will help flush toxins through the kidneys. A diet consisting of purely vegetable juice will, over time result in physical discomfort including headaches, back pain, dizziness, tiredness, constipation and nausea. This is the result of the cleansing cycle, which starts to eliminate waste to revitalize energy.
A vegetable juice diet can reduce blood proteins and change the way medication reacts in the body. Consult your doctor before attempting any type of juice diet. If maintained for a long period without food and medical assessment, any juice diet will lead to nutrient deficiencies including protein and calcium deficiency.
A diet of only juice is recommended for 1 - 3 days. Your personal physician should assess any more than 3 days. A medically supervised juice diet such as those used by health sanitariums in Europe can range from three to thirty days. As more severe health conditions require a longer period to repair damaged tissue in the body.
The amount of cleansing you need depends on many factors including: body type; quality or your regular diet; the amount of rest your digestive system receives between meals; digestion efficiency; amount of daily exercise, relaxation and stress; and toxic intake.
I have done the vegetable juice diet for 3 days using fresh organic produce. I used a Breville Juicer to juice all my vegetables and greens. I started each day as I always do with a glass of warm water and lemon juice to activate the digestive process. I found it easiest to drink 8oz vegetable juice every 3 hours during the day. In addition I also drank water between juice drinks.
The surprising aspect of a total vegetable juice diet for me is the lack of hunger. Initially the vegetable juice was a novelty, and then I began to miss the physical action of chewing solid food. I didn't FEEL hungry: vegetable juices are extremely tasty, energizing and satisfying. After the first day on the diet, I found it easy to just drink juice. In fact the hardest part of the juice diet was returning to solid food. Eat solid foods gradually after the completion of the vegetable juice diet.
